good stuff

Great news from Mt Pleasant, Michigan
and Central Michigan University (CMU)!
CMU now has a campus chapter of UNA-USA!

UNA-CMU, formerly known as “Society for the United Nations”, is an active group that works to expand issue-based education to fellow students across campus. Knowledge of the structure, operations and goals of the United Nations receive emphasis.

In the past, the group has had the opportunity to regularly attend American Model United Nations in Chicago and National Model United Nations in New York. Each semester, the organization has invited speakers to address issues facing our global society. For example, UNA-CMU has hosted speakers to address South and North Korean relations, insight on life in Crimea during unrest, and cultural studies of the Nordic Block.

Moving into 2015, UNA-CMU looks to build its membership. In collaboration with UNA-USA and the Michigan UNA Division, the chapter is looking to spread more awareness across campus and building a solid foundation for the future. UNA-CMU members are hopeful and excited as they collaborate with other campus organizations to help achieve global peace and equality.

UNA-CMU launched its new name and future plans by participating in the CMU “Action 2015 Global Rally”, a collaboration of campus organizations that celebrated the birthday of Martin Luther King (January 15, 1929).
